Our Story

After graduating from the Wharton School of Business and working on both the creative and business sides of the entertainment industry in LA, including as Head of New Business for Sean 'Diddy' Combs, I have learned how Art combines with Commerce to create Culture, and how social change is driven by cultural leaders. That's why I founded Maiya, a designer brand combining luxury, wellness, and authentic expression.

Maiya's first product elevates the classic, plain yoga mat to a modern statement piece. Your mat is so much more than a functional piece of equipment: it's the physical space where you practice mindfulness and connect with a tradition that’s thousands of years old. Maiya Yoga mats are designer pieces, with a chic Indo-Western aesthetic designed for the modern world while honoring yoga's ancient cultural traditions.

Our award-winning prints feature yoga’s most spiritual symbols and were designed in Mumbai by internationally renowned artist Shweta Malhotra. The mats are sustainably produced in Germany for the highest quality, and we are the only yoga mat brand to feature predominantly South Asian and other PoC models.

Inclusivity and authenticity are in our DNA, and a deep commitment to our values is just as important to me as making the dollars and cents work. For us, there is no other way. Maiya is about authentic cultural representation and personal expression. It is about self-love and personal celebration.
